I recently switched from Dell to MacBook and rebuilt my BlackBerry development environment in a clean Windows XP Virtual Machine under VM Ware Fusion. I thought the process might possibly be of interest to anyone starting out on their BB development journey so I knocked together a quick guide. This is intended to be part one of at least two parts. The first part covers down-loading and installing:
- The Java Development Environment (don't be put off if Java isn't your thing the JDE also includes Device Simulators - which are also available separately);
- The MDS and Email Service Simulators;
- Opening a Web Application/Site on the device simulator
So not rocket science but might be useful for some. Next installment will most likely include:
- Installing and configuring Eclipse;
- Remote debugging with Eclipse and JDWP;
- Using the Email Service Simulator;
- Connecting your Device Simulator to a real BES;
- Using the Notes Client HTTP task to serve HTML/XML
